Eagan's Connor Mulhere Receives Appointment to West Point

Saint Thomas Academy announced today that Connor Mulhere ’12 of Eagan received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. West Point welcomes roughly 1,200 new cadets every summer.

In June 2011, Mulhere had an opportunity to experience life at West Point through its Summer Leaders Seminar.  The seminar allows students to live in cadet barracks for a week while participating in academic, leadership, athletic and military workshops.  Mulhere was one of just 10 students out of 500 to receive a certificate of excellence at the seminar, being recognized for geospatial information science.

To be considered for admission to West Point, candidates must be qualified academically, medically, and physically, and must receive a nomination from an approved source, such as a member of Congress.

West Point is a four-year, co-educational, federally funded undergraduate college located 50 miles north of New York. A preeminent leader-development institution, West Point was founded in 1802 as America’s first college of engineering. Since then, West Point has grown in size and stature, but remains committed to the task of producing commissioned leaders of character for America’s Army.
