UPDATE: Eagan's Intertech Announces Move, Expansion

The business' move to 1575 Thomas Center Drive will be complete by Dec. 28.

Record sales are behind Eagan-based Intertech's decision to follow through with a multi-million move and expansion, a company official said on Friday.

Intertech, a software training, consulting and development firm, is currently renovating the former Americana Bank building at 1575 Thomas Center Drive in Eagan, Intertech CEO and founder Tom Salonek said. The move, effective on Dec. 28, will nearly double Intertech's space; their current home at 1020 Discovery Road in Eagan is roughly 7,000 square feet, but the new building, Salonek said, totals 13,000 square feet.

"The new space is driven by a need to handle our record growth and the high demand of our live online training," Intertech Partner and Director of Training Sales Dan McCabe wrote in a press release. "This represents a two million dollar investment in our future."

The company is the second Eagan-based business to announce a move and expansion this week.

The new facility will feature six classroom training rooms equipped with Smartboards and other online training tools. The building will also have a number of student lounges and a software development area, according to the press release. One-third of Intertech's business, Salonek said, revolves around the software training it provides. The remaining portion of the business consists of Intertech's own software development program.

In 2010, Salonek said, the company totaled roughly $7.5 million in sales—a number that grew to $10.5 million in 2011.

The company started the search for a new home in 2008, when it considered purchasing undeveloped land and constructing its own facility. The deal fell through, Salonek said, and Intertech purchased the Americana Bank building last summer.

Intertech is the second Eagan-based business to announce a move and expansion this week. On Tuesday, Prime Therapeutics announced that it is planning to expand into a 100,000-square-foot facility on Buffet Way in Eagan.

"Clearly this is an exciting day for our firm and represents a significant milestone. We've long said that we put our customers first and this building puts our money where our mouth is," Intertech Partner and Director of Training James White wrote in the press release.
