East Coast Document Management Company Expands to Eagan

Diversified Information Technologies will renovate a 64,000-square-foot building along I-35E in Eagan.

Pennsylvania-based Diversified Information Technologies (DIT) is expanding to the Midwest, and the company has Eagan square in its cross-hairs.

On Wednesday, DIT officials said that the company has entered a 20-year lease with Greenspace Properties, LLC., for a 64,000-square-foot facility in Eagan. Over the next several months, DIT will pump more than $3 million into renovating and equipping the building, which it plans to open for operations later this spring.

DIT President and CEO Scott Byers said the move was a logical one for the company, which specializes in document management and protection. The addition of this facility in Eagan is part of a coordinated national expansion for DIT, which is also opening new preserve facilities in South Carolina, Oregon and Conneticut, according to a press release issued by DIT.

“We're staking a move to the Midwest and Minneapolis is the first stake in the ground, and will operate as a hub for us as we continue to build out," Byers said.

Through planned renovations, the building will become what DIT spokeperson Jon Weiner called a "document preservation center"—a secure building that stores critical information and documents for other organizations. That may include medical records, financial information or even government documents, DIT officials said.

The building will be equipped with sophisticated safety and environmental controls, Byers said. Those systems will be designed and built out in accordance with standards set by the National Archives and Records Adminstration (NARA), the federal agency that sets document preservation requirements for critical government information.

DIT's move to Eagan may bring as many as 25 jobs to the city, Byers added. The building is located off I-35E at 2871 West Service Rd.

"It’s just a great central location to access a lot of markets where DIT is growing and expanding," Weiner said.
