Patch Picks: Five Nonprofits Making a Difference

Five local nonprofits who impact the community

 

1. Eagan Resource Center

The Eagan Resource Center (ERC), the largest food shelf in Dakota County, is a nonprofit organization committed to eliminating hunger. ERC has grown from serving 38 families per month in 2005 to serving over 700 families per month in 2010.

2. DARTS 

DARTS works with volunteers with pets to visit the elderly living in Dakota County to help reduce isolation and form new relationships.

3. Feed My Starving Children

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a nonprofit Christian organization that relies on its children and adult volunteers to help hand-pack meals to feed starving children in more than 60 countries worldwide. The organization has been in Eagan for the past five years and is FDA regulated. It has a 94 percent efficiency rate.

4. Open Arms

Open Arms of Minnesota provides home-delivered meals for people living with illness in Eagan.  Volunteer opportunities are available for meal delivery, in the kitchen or in the office.

5. Youth Forum Minnesota

Youth Forum Minnesota is an outreach organization that works with youth groups in the Upper Midwest. It provides programs for teens, youth leaders and communities.
