Editor's Note: The following is a press release from the Minnesota House of Representatives.

State Representatives Laurie Halverson (DFL – Eagan) and Joe Atkins (DFL – Inver Grove Heights) will be holding a joint town hall meeting on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013 from 6-7 p.m. in the City Council chambers at the Eagan Municipal Center.

Minnesota Management and Budget Commissioner Jim Schowalter will deliver a brief presentation on the state budget, before Reps. Halverson and Atkins open up the meeting for questions and a moderated discussion.

Minnesota is facing a $1.1 billion budget deficit and still owes its K-12 schools another $1.1 billion.

“Minnesota is facing a number of challenges going forward and your input is essential as we work to craft a balanced budget that invests in our future and economic growth,” said Rep. Halverson. “I encourage constituents to attend and share their thoughts and ideas on how we keep Minnesota a great place to work, live, and raise a family.”

“Hearing from our constituents is important to us,” said Rep. Atkins. “Our budget needs to set our state on a long-term path to success and reflect the priorities of Minnesotans. Hearing from Minnesotans is absolutely essential to getting the job done.”

Representatives Halverson and Atkins, thank you both for setting this up in Eagan. I attended the presentation in Burnsville and found it very informative. It is refreshing to see our elected officials coming into the community and giving residents the chance to question for themselves what your beliefs and plans for your term are. We had two years with elected officials who rarely faced their constituents. I will be looking forward to more town hall meetings. Keep up the good work.

Joe can't be in two places at once and neither can his constituents. Can someone advise as to where he will be? See the following:
