Superintendent Search Progresses in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District
The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Board of Education will soon begin vetting executive search firms.
Starting this week, the District 191 Board of Education will embark on the next part of its quest to find a replacement for outgoing Superintendent Randall Clegg—the search for an executive search firm.
This Thursday, the board will interview a trio superintendent search firms begining at 6:30 p.m. at the Administrative Service Center: Ray and Associates, PROACT Search and School Exec Connect. The three were chosen from a group of five that have submitted proposals.
After Clegg announced his retirement in September, the board opted to hire on a consultant to find candidates for superintendent. At the time, board members agreed that a search firm would be best able to provide the" expertise and guidance" necessary, along with an extensive national network of potential candidates.
A search firm could be selected by the end of the week. From March to April, a pool of candidates will be subjected to interviews and community receptions. The district hopes to have a new superintendent by July 1.
According a story in the Savage Pacer from 2010 (when the superintendent's contract was reviewed), Clegg currently makes a salary of $180,000, with 28 paid vacation days, 12 days of paid sick leave, 10 paid holidays per year and a $400 monthly allowance for automotive expenses. The district also provides him with a cell phone and other electronic devices.
