Thomson Reuters Honored by Yellow Ribbon

Recognition for support of military familes comes in the form of a Yellow Ribbon Company for Thomson Reuters.

Eagan's own officially became a Yellow Ribbon company after an official ceremony Dec. 16.

"A Yellow Ribbon Company," said Minnesota Army National Guard Maj. Gen. David J. Elicerio, "is a broad, organizationally structured company with national, regional and statewide influence. In addition, a Yellow Ribbon Company needs to contain essential areas including a HR recruiting and HR policy and procedure department, training and development and community and employee outreach and support departments."

Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is a comprehensive program creating awareness to connecting military members and their families with community support, training, services and resources.

Elicerio who is the commander of the 34th Infantry "Red Bull" Division, said as a member of the military who actively served before and after Yellow Ribbon he "can see the great difference it makes … I see the importance in the things you folks do."

Sen. Ted Daley, R-Eagan, was also on hand at the ceremony.

"I’m so proud of what Thomson Reuters has accomplished, achieved and has committed to going forward on behalf of service members and their families," he said. "As a former veteran of combat tours in the Middle East I know the sacrifices service members and their families make. As a state senator and Eagan resident I am so proud of Thomson Reuters’ work here in our community by making the commitment to my fellow service members and their families."

The nod is the fruition of 12-18 months of work by the veterans resource group at Thomson Reuters, Rick King, chief operations officer of technology said.

"I’m so proud of the work they’ve done not only for our country in keeping us safe but I’m also very proud of the work they veterans or active military members have done as employees here to support each other through this kind of program," King said.

According to www.beyondtheyellowribbon.org there are 18 other companies in Minnesota that are recognized as Yellow Ribbon companies and more than 100 entities, including cities (including Eagan) and counties will have the recognition by years end.
