Two Eagan Hockey Players Finalists for Statewide Award

Will Merchant and Michael Zajac are both in the running for the Mr. Hockey award.

Eagan High School boasts not one, but two finalists for the Mr. Hockey award, given out annually by the Minnesota Minute Men.

Wildcats forwards Will Merchant and Michael Zajac are among the 10 finalists in the running for the award, according to an announcement posted Thursday to the Minute Men website. The only other Minnesota city to have two finalists is Duluth.

The award is given to Minnesota's outstanding senior high school hockey player, and is selected by a panel of National Hockey League Scouts, Division One coaches and selected media members from around the state, the organization wrote in a press release.

The annual Mr. Hockey Awards Banquet will be held at noon on Sunday, March 11 at RiverCentre in St. Paul. The boys state high school hockey tournament will be held at Xcel Energy Center from March 7-10. To order tickets for the banquet, visit www.minnesotaminutemen.com.
