With New Facility Open, Stream Global Services Kicks Off Hiring Blitz in Eagan
The global call center company, which recently moved into a 37,000-square-foot facility in Eagan, plans to hire as many as 300 employees through the second quarter of 2013.
Stream Global Services' new facility at 3285 Northwoods Cir. may be mostly empty at the moment, but don't expect that to last long.
After opening a 37,000-square-foot call center and headquarters facility in a vacant office complex in Eagan at the beginning of October, Stream is kicking off a serious hiring blitz. The compay plans to hire as many as 300 employees through the second quarter of 2013, according to Stream Global Services Senior Vice President of Recruiting Liza Sayre.
Roughly 80 percent of those positions will be call center-related, but the remainder will be leadership roles within the company, Sayre said.
Stream signed a lease for the building—located in an office complex northeast of the Eagan Promenade—in August. The company, which employs roughly 31,000 workers in 52 call centers worldwide, provides sales, customer care and technical support for Fortune 100 companies.
The company hosted two job fairs at its new Eagan location earlier this week, and plans to hire roughly 50 employees by the end of December in a "first wave" of hiring, Sayre said. By the end of the first quarter of 2013, the company wants to have 150 employees in place. That number will likely increase to 300 employees in the second quarter of 2013, Sayre said.
Most of those positions are full-time, Sayre added, and many will include advancement opportunities.
"We view our Eagan facility as a ‘test kitchen’ where we can work with the latest technology and innovative concepts in customer service and sales to bring greater value to our clients worldwide—while creating meaningful career opportunities for Stream employees,” Stream Executive Vice President of Operations and Marketing Mike Shea wrote in a press release.
Stream operates 10 call centers in the United States, with facilities in Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; Watertown, S.D.; and Tampa, Fla., among other locations.
The company invested upwards of $1 million in renovating and equipping its Eagan facility, and plans to expand by an additional 8,000 square feet in another month, Shea said. Stream may also open a second, similarly-sized call center in Eagan soon, but hasn't yet made a decision whether to proceed with those plans, Shea said.
"It’s definitely in the works from a strategy perspective, but specific commitment has not been made," Shea said.
