Yellow Ribbon Group Holds Fundraiser For Veterans' Families
Members of the organization were on hand bagging groceries at Cub Foods on Thursday evening.
Eagan's Beyond the Yellow Ribbon group turned to a tried and true fundraising method on Thursday night—bagging groceries for five hours at Cub Foods in Eagan.
More than 20 group members signed up to participate in the event, according to Julie Johnson, who co-chairs Eagan's Yellow Ribbon committee. The group is working to raise money to support local military families, Johnson said.
"Whatever comes in we'll be happy with," Johnson said.
Eagan was recognized as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon city at the end of August, thanks in part to the efforts of Johnson and her husband, Bud, who have led the Yellow Ribbon initiative. The mission of the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Campaign is to provide the community network of support for military members, veterans and their families before, during and after deployment.

How did the fundraiser go, Mike? How much were you able to raise for local families?

The fundraiser went well I think. Julie Johnson would know the amount--I don't. But--I know she was pleased with this very first effort.
