Eagan Teen Recognized for Exceptional Artwork

Emily Dinsmore of Eagan, and a senior at Visitation School in Mendota Heights, has been recognized as a Gold Key winner in the 2013-2014 Minnesota Scholastic Art Awards (MSAA) competition for her print entitled "Blue Light."

Emily and other Gold Key and Silver Key winners will have their artwork displayed at a public exhibition at the Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley from February 5-22, and they will be recognized at the MSAA Awards Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Perpich Center.  In addition, Emily Dinsmore's work will be submitted to a panel of judges in New York for judging on a national level.

“It is an honor to work with such dedicated students, and I am most grateful for Visitation's ongoing support of the arts, said Visitation art teacher Charlotte Cleveland.  “The creativity and skill level on display at this annual juried exhibition is awe-inspiring. I encourage people to schedule time to view the exhibit at the Perpich Center for the Arts.”

The Alliance for Young Artists & Writers identifies teenagers in grades 7-12 with exceptional artistic and literary talent and brings their remarkable work to a national audience through The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.

Regional judges awarded 209 Silver Keys and 346 Honorable Mentions for individual entries, as well as 7 Portfolio Silver Keys and 18 Portfolio Honorable Mentions. Silver Key and Honorable Mention works will be displayed digitally in the MSAA Gold Key Exhibition.
