A Guide to Eating Out in Eagan on Christmas Day

Yes Virginia, there really are restaurants open on Christmas. And bowling, too.

After jolly old St. Nicholas has arrived and the wrapping paper has been recycled, who has the energy to cook dinner Christmas night? There are a few places to find a hot meal on Christmas day, or perhaps a late-night appetizer and a beer after your guests leave.

Here's a guide to what restaurants will be open in Eagan on Saturday, what foods they'll be serving and their hours of operation.

If you're in the mood for Oriental, Anna Chung's, 1960 Cliff Lake Road, will be open from 11 a.m. until 8.p.m. and will have the regular menu offerings.

Do you have out-of-town guests staying at the Holiday Inn Express or Hilton Garden Inn? Meet them at the adjacent Ansari's Mediterranean Grill and Lounge, 1960 Rahncliff Court, which will be open from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. It's convenient and someone else cleans up the pots and pans!

Also, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 2700 Pilot Knob Road on the north end of town, will be open for breakfast and dinner. A breakfast buffet, available from 7 a.m. until 10:30 p.m., will include cheesy eggs, breakfast potatoes, fresh fruit, cereal, sausage, Danish and a waffle station. Cost will be $10.99.

"They don't need a reservation. Just stop by the front desk and tell them you're there for the breakfast buffet," said Jacob Gonsior, Crowne Meetings director.

The hotel will reopen from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. for dinner and bar service.

If you're looking for even more good times together, head over to Cedarvale Lanes, 3883 Cedar Grove Parkway, beginning at 3 p.m. for some bowling, along with food and beverages from Fitz's, located inside the bowling center. Bowling Manager Grant Frame said lots of families plan a bowling outing on Christmas afternoon or evening. Beginning at 9 p.m., the black lights and fog machine turn on for Incred-A-Bowl fun. Fitz's will be serving food off the regular menu until midnight.

Jake's City Grille, 1288 Promenade Place, opens at 5:30 p.m. and features its regular menu of sandwiches, burgers and complete meals. And since it's Saturday night and most people don't have to work the following day, stay up late at Casper's Sports Barn,  4625 Nicols Road, for that ugly Christmas sweater party. The Sports Barn opens at 8 p.m. and serves $5 appetizers and drinks.
