Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at Dakota County Libraries

The Dakota County Library system is celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a number of local events.

Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15–Oct. 15, celebrates the histories, cultures and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Dakota County Library pays tribute to this heritage with free programs suitable for all ages.  

  • Double Trouble Birthday with The PuppetTellers The PuppetTellers entertain with the bilingual story of two friends who throw their birthday parties on the same day at the same time. Saturday, Sept. 22, 10:30–11:30 a.m., Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul.  
  • The Adventures of Juan with Teatro del Pueblo Hear the story of Juan, a young Mexican boy who moves to rural Minnesota, in this entertaining puppet show that explores both Mexican and American myths. Saturday, Oct. 6, 10:30–11:15 a.m., Wentworth Library, 199 E. Wentworth Ave., West St. Paul.  
  • The Adventures of Don Quixote Enjoy this interactive, bilingual show about Don Quixote, a famous character from Spanish literature. Thursday, Oct. 11, 7–7:45 p.m., Wescott Library, 1340 Wescott Rd., Eagan.  
  • Ticket to Brasil Take an inspiring journey through the world of Brazilian music, traditional percussion playing and dance. Saturday, Oct. 13, 11–11:45 a.m., Galaxie Library, 14955 Galaxie Ave., Apple Valley.
