Eagan Resident Directs New Children's Theater in Rosemount

Amy Kamarainen formerly owned and operated Young Actors Theater Company in Eagan.

The Rosemount Area Arts Council has hired an Eagan resident to lead its new children's theater.

Amy Kamarainen will direct the Backyard Bunch Children's Theater, which will begin in January for children ages 6 to 15 years old, the Pioneer Press reported. Kamarainen's experience includes owning and operating Young Actors Theatre Company in Eagan from 2010 to 2012. The theater offered classes for up to 180 students at one point. She is also on the board of an a theater group for adults that she helped found, called Eagan Theater Company.

Kamarainen ended her youth theater business due to the cost of transportation from schools to the theater's location at a church in Eagan, according to the Pioneer Press. She's hoping that the Backyard Bunch Children's Theater can avoid the same problem through grants and fundraisers.

Backyard Bunch Children's Theater will be located at the Steeple Center in Roseville at 14375 South Robert Trail.
