Eagan YMCA Hosting Nutrition Classes in August

Nutrition for Weight Management is the topic for Aug. 9, Nutrition for Disease Prevention will be covered on Aug. 16 and Nutrition for Kids will be presented on Aug. 23.

Understanding that half of the health equation is what you eat, the is presenting three Thursday noon brown bag seminars on nutrition in August.  Nutrition for Weight Management is the topic for Aug. 9, Nutrition for Disease Prevention will be covered on Aug. 16 and Nutrition for Kids will be presented on Aug. 23.  Human nutrition expert and certified lifestyle and weight management coach Darci Kruse will conduct each one-hour seminar at the Eagan Y facility.

“We are pleased to provide this useful information,” said Nyam Smith, Eagan YMCA executive director. “It fits the Y’s national initiatives relating to childhood obesity and diabetes prevention.” 

Nutrition for Weight Management covers what, when and how much to eat to maintain a healthy weight.  Nutrition of Disease Prevention discusses how what you eat has a lasting impact on your health, the effects of supplements and cutting your risk of common diseases.  Nutrition for Kids discusses packing a healthy school lunch, after-school snacks and fueling kids for sports and activities.

Darci Kruse, senior fitness coordinator at the Eagan Y, holds a Masters in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport.  All members of the public are welcome to attend, there is no charge for the presentation and reservations are not needed.  All are invited to bring a brown bag lunch. 

The Eagan Y is also open to presenting this lecture series to other community groups.  The Eagan Y is located at 550 Opperman Drive in Eagan.  For more information, contact Darci Kruse at 651-259-6176.
