Announcing a drive for healthier families, workplaces and communities, the YMCA in Eagan hosts the 2013 Eagan Y Board Fitness Challenge. For a third year, this challenge invites community and business leaders to improve their fitness during January and February. Teams will have full access to the Eagan Y facility, group classes and personal trainers from January 14 to March 8, 2013.  Individual and team winners will be determined by weight and inches lost.

“We are excited to offer the Board Challenge again in 2013,” said Greg Hanks, Eagan YMCA Interim Executive Director. “The fun and competition with community leaders fits with our drive for healthy living and community responsibility.”

Last year’s 120 competitors lost a grand total of over 430 pounds and 220 inches, with the highest individual weight loss of 20 pounds over the eight weeks. Healthier employees contribute to lower insurance premiums, increased productivity, and fewer sick days.

In addition to unlimited access to the Eagan Y and its amenities, participants will receive weekly classes with a Y instructor, nutrition classes with a registered dietician, access to Y personal trainers, a Y Board Challenge t-shirt and weekly email tips. The top three teams will be recognized at a celebration event to be held on April 2, 2013, with the winning team receiving the coveted traveling trophy for the duration of 2013.

Registration is open now at $100 per participant, with all proceeds benefitting the 2013 Y-Partners Campaign, a scholarship fund that provides facility access, camp, and program scholarships for Eagan families in need.
