Eagan's Caponi Art Park to Host Book Launch Today

Tony Caponi, founder of Eagan's Caponi Art Park, will read an excerpt from his book "Meaning Beyond Reason" during a launch party today.

The launch will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Caponi Art Park and Learning Center.

In an interview, Caponi talked about his latest book, which was published this summer. It's a collection of essays on philosophy, creativity, spirituality and meaning.

He said one issue he explores is that people collect words -- like love -- before they have the experience. But words and reasoning can't always convey the feelings and meaning of an experience, he said.

Experience is everything. He tells a story of a classroom he held in a forest when he was an art professor at Macalester College. He had them climb trees.

"They'll never forget the lecture," he said.

He hopes when people come to his park that they come out changed.

"That is education," he said.
