Excessive Heat Warning to End in Eagan Tonight

Market Fest attendees cautioned.

The oppressive heat that has kept many Eagan residents indoors and looking for reprieve will end tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

The excessive heat warning is scheduled to end at 9 p.m., the National Weather Service said.

Heat indexes are expected to reach 110 today, according to the National Weather Service. Still, life goes on in Eagan. Tonight's Market Fest, the weekly outdoor farmer's market at 1501 Central Parkway, will continue. But attendees are encouraged to drink plenty of water and find ways to stay cool, such as taking breaks in the shade or at the nearby Community Center, according to the City of Eagan.

Tom Garrison, the City of Eagan's communications director, released a written statement explaining that parks employees have been informed on how to respond to heat emergencies.

"Each morning during the current heat wave, the (city parks) employees are reminded to take water with them, containers are available for those that may not have something," the e-mail statement read. "If they experience symptoms while working, they are instructed to seek shade or utilize nearby park buildings, many of which have AC. If the symptoms are severe (none to date) they are to contact a supervisor immediately and/or arrange to return to the shop."
