Get Out: Weekend Activities In and Around Eagan

  • When/Where:
    Opening night is 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center in Burnsville.
    Why Go:
    A gritty, innovative play based on Euripides' "Hippolytus" and Racine's "Phaedra"—radically reconstructed and placed in Burnsville's Trailer Park world. A world in which Phaedra can't resist sleeping with her stepson and Theseus is a distracted businessman. It is a world in which a garage band stands in for a Greek chorus and townspeople sit around the gas station talking about the extraordinary relationships they have had and the many unconventional ways that "true love" determines the course of our lives. Suggested for mature audiences.
    Cost: $20

  • When/Where:
    10 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at in Eagan.
    Why Go:
    Bring your favorite American Girl doll and join Julie and Ivy for a Tea Party! We will be serving treats and tea while making four small tea cups and saucers for your parties at home! Registration is suggested.
    Cost: $20 per child

  • When/Where:
    10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 14 at in Eagan.
    Why Go:
    There aren't many things that beat reading to
    man's best friend. Bring your kids into the library to read to certified therapy dogs. It's not only fun, but it helps develop reading skills and fluency. Ages: 5-10.
    Cost: Free

  • When/Where:
    2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, at .
    Why Go: Explore the world of animal sounds and songs through hands-on activities, a focused nature hike and a fun art project to take home! Ages 6-9. Registration required.
    Cost: $8 per youth. Adults are free.

  • When/Where: 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 15 at the Lakeville Area Arts Center in Lakeville.
    Why Go:
    Expressions Community Theater invites you to fasten your seatbelts and get ready to laugh out loud at the Midwest premiere of Mama Won’t Fly. Show times are 7:30 p.m. on April 13, 14, 20 and 21 and 2 p.m. on April 15 and 22 at the Lakeville Area Arts Center.  An outrageously hilarious race against the clock begins when Savannah agrees to get her feisty mother all the way from Alabama to California in time for her brother’s wedding. The only problem is—Mama won’t fly!
    Cost: $12.
