Eagan residents will get the chance to celebrate the memory of Matt Thuente—an Eagan High School senior who passed away in 2011 after a two-year battle with neuroblastoma—and raise money for college scholarships during an event on Oct. 27.
The Matt Thuente Memorial Scholarship Benefit will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 27 at Al Baker's Restaurant in Eagan.
This is a gathering in order to raise money for the Matt Thuente Memorial Scholarship. A scholarship fund started last year to give college scholarships to Eagan High School seniors. The event will include a silent auction and raffle starting at 7:30 p.m. and a performance by Big Bob and the High Rollers at 9 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
Matt was a 2005 Eagan High School graduate. He passed away on Sept. 3, 2011. Last year, a similar fundraising effort held in Thuente's memory raised $2,700, which was given away by the Eagan Foundation in the form of two $1,000 college scholarships. The remaining $700 was kept to fund future scholarships.
There is a $20 cover charge and all proceeds will go to Matt's scholarship fund. Participants will also have other opportunities to donate via the raffle, silent auction or a donation box that will be present. Cash or check will be accepted for donations. Checks should be made out to the Eagan Foundation.
If you would like to donate to Matt's scholarship but cannot attend the benefit , please make checks out to the Eagan Foundation and mail them to Sam & Paul Frydenlund at 718 Washington Ave N, #602, Minneapolis, MN 55401.
