Two north-south routes in Dakota County will be bottle-necked or cut off this weekend.
Southbound Interstate 35 between Burnsville and Lakeville will be reduced to one lane beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23. Construction crews will be repaving the stretch of road between between the I-35/35W/I-35E split and County Road 50.
If all goes according to plan, all lanes will re-open by 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26. In the meantime, the Minnesota Department of Transportation advises drivers to expect delays.
Meanwhile, another major road connecting Eagan to south Dakota County will be cut off while workers replace a culvert. According to MnDOT, motorists will encounter a detour in Inver Grove Heights on Highway 3 (Robert Trail). Starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, the road will be closed between 70th Street and Allen Way.
Traffic will be re-routed along a signed detour using County Road 26/70th Street, Babcock Trail and 80th Street. Highway 3 will re-open by 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 26.
