Kevin Sampers Resigns From District 196 School Board

He wanted to spend time pursuing the business venture he started in November, he said.

Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan school district board member Kevin Sampers announced Monday that he would resign from the board, effective at the end of August.

Sampers said he needed to spend more time on the business he co-founded in November, and wouldn't be able to devote the time necessary to serve on the board.

Sampers lives in Eagan and has served on the board for 18 years. He said he graduated from Apple Valley High School in 1978.

His term was set to expire in January 2014.

Sampers' resignation will not impact the general election in November, board Chairwoman Jackie Magnuson said. The board requested the administration put together a timeline for appointing a replacement to finish out the rest of his term.
