Former Eagan resident Nicholas Mrozinski continued his ascent on NBC's singing competition "The Voice" on Tuesday night, breaking into the Top 6 thanks to the support of the show's voting audience.

Mrozinski's fellow contestants, Dez Duron and Cody Belew were eliminated on Tuesday. Belew was the first member of celebrity coach Cee Lo Green's team to be cut from the competition. Contestants Cassadee Pope, Trevin Hunte, Terry McDermott and Melanie Martinez join Mrozinski in the Top 6.

On Tuesday, the artist told host Carson Daly that winning the competition on "The Voice" would "allow this sacrifice and time away to bring our family to a whole new level."

On a lighter note, Mrozinski also poked fun at his own facial hair and grooming habits when asked about his pre-performance rituals during a "confessional". Celebrity coach Cee Lo Green, decked out in over-the-top green outfit, also performed a weirdly wonderful duet with Kermit the Frog during a cameo appearance by the Muppets.

Mrozinski and the remaining contestants will perform again at 7 p.m. next Monday, with another elimination round following on Tuesday evening.
