Argosy University, Twin Cities Hosts Information Session With FBI Special Agent

Argosy University, Twin Cities will host an informal discussion session with FBI Special Agent, Karie Gibson on Thursday, June 28, 2012 beginning at 5 p.m.  Dr. Gibson will be discussing career pathways to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and answering questions.  The event is hosted by the criminal justice and forensic psychology programs and is open to the public at no charge.

Dr. Gibson has served as a Special Agent with the FBI for six years and is assigned to the International Terrorism, Horn of Africa squad where she investigates acts of terrorism in the United States and abroad.  In addition, Dr. Gibson is the Primary Coordinator for the Minneapolis Division's National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime (NCAVC) Program.  As the Primary NCAVC Coordinator, she routinely works with law enforcement agencies as a liaison for the Behavioral Analysis Units on homocide, missing person, counterterrorism, threat violence, and kidnapping cases.  Also, Dr. Gibson is involved with the Employee Assistance Program, Critical Incident Program, and the Crisis Negotiation Team.

Prior to becoming an agent with the FBI, Dr. Gibson was and continues to be a licensed psychologist.  She was an officer in the United States Air Force (USAF) where, for four years she worked as a psychologist conducting therapy and psychological assessments for military members and their families.  After the USAF, Dr. Gibson was a Forensic Evaluator for the State of Washington for one year before leaving to join the FBI.  As as Forensic Evaluator, Dr. Gibson completed court ordered evaluations such as compentency to stand trial, mental state at time of offense, diminished capacity, insanity, and civil commitment evaluations for sex offenders and the mentally ill and dangerous.  Dr. Gibson holds a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Minnesota, Morris, and a master's and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The Minnesota School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, Twin Cities.
