Days after a whirlwind performance in front of hundreds at the Mall of America, Nicholas David hit the stage once again Monday night, performing Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" and dedicating the song to his family.

Nicholas, a former Eagan resident, is one of the final four contestants on NBC's "The Voice." He and fellow contestants Trevin Hunte, Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott face elimination at the hands of the show's voting audience.

Nicholas' performance followed a recap of last week's visit home to the Twin Cities, where he saw his family's new home for the first time, accompanied his girlfriend to the doctor to hear their baby's heartbeat, and then performed at the Mall of America and The Happy Gnome in St. Paul.

Nicholas called his experience on the show a "true treat" last week at the Mall of America and talked about his partnership with celebrity coach Cee Lo Green.

Green praised Nicholas' Monday night performance as "heartfelt and beautiful." Green acknowledged that he and Nicholas have had differences over what direction to take in his performances, and added, "We are your family, man."

Thus far, Nicholas—who abandoned his trademark shades for Monday night's show—has survived elimination on the back of his strong performances and his eccentric style, which have won him a devoted fan following.

"Voice" judge Adam Levine also praised Nicholas' rendition of the Cocker ballad. "You are one of the most soulful people I've ever met," Levine said.

Nicholas sang to his fiancée and their two sons, who were seated in the front row for Monday night's live show.
