Electrical Fire at Eagan Business Causes Lots of Smoke, Little Damage

Firefighters from Eagan and Mendota Heights responded to the call at 2797 Eagandale Boulevard.

A malfunctioning electrical panel at an Eagan business caused a short-lived electrical fire on Thursday morning.

Eagan and Mendota Heights fire crews responded to a fire at Central Turf and Irrigation Supply on 2797 Eagandale Boulevard just before 11 a.m. on Thursday. Employees at the business reported an electrical panel on fire at the business.

The fire produced plenty of potentially toxic smoke, but did little structural damage to the business, Eagan Fire Chief Mike Scott said. Fire crews ventilated the building and closed off Eagandale Boulevard for a short time, but didn't use water hoses on the fire, for fear of causing a potential dangerous electrical current, Scott added.

Eagan stations one and two responded to the fire, as well as crews from Mendota Heights' fire station on Dodd Road, Scott said.
