Dakota Electric Customers: Get Free Admission to Minnesota Zoo July 26

Dakota Electric members are encouraged to bring donations for local food shelves if they attend the free evening at the zoo.

 

Dakota Electric Association customers and their families can be admitted to the for free from 4 to 8 p.m. July 26 for Dakota Electric's 15th-annual member-appreciation event.

Tickets to the event were included in electric bills, or those who purchase electricity from the cooperative can bring a copy of a recent bill to the zoo to receive free entry into the member-only event, according to a press release.

Attendees will be able to enjoy the zoo’s many exhibits, including Penguins of the African Coast, Russia’s Grizzly Coast, the Minnesota Trail, World of Birds Show, free monorail rides and more. Visitors also will be able to see the zoo’s temporary Dinosaurs! exhibit for an extra $4.

The also will have a special discount for Dakota Electric members.

The Barbary Coast Dixieland Band will play music during the event, and attendees can experience walk-around magic by Bob Miller. Children can enjoy the splash pad, the Woodland Adventure play area and Louie the Lightning Bug—Dakota Electric’s safety mascot.

Those planning to attend are encouraged to bring food or cash as a donation for local food shelves. In the last 14 years, Dakota Electric’s members have donated more than nine tons of food and more than $6,000 to local food shelves.
