UPDATED: Roughly 1,300 Still Without Power, Dakota Electric Says

Crews have restored power to more than 7,000 customers so far this morning.

Roughly 1,300 area residents are still without power after severe storms that moved through the area overnight, according to a mid-morning update released by Dakota Electric at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.

Dakota Electric Association initially reported at about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday that about 9,800 customers were experiencing power outages. But that estimate increased to more than 10,000 without power by later in the day.

Crews are responding to the outages, which were widespread and scattered across the service area, according to a press release. Dakota Electric anticipates that the majority of residents affected by the outages will have power restored by the end of the day on Tuesday.
