Community Update

Hello everyone!

It's Eagan Funfest Ambassador, Megan!  It's been a while since my last update, so I'll give you a quick sneak peak into what I've been up to.  I just finished my first year at St. Bens and had the time of my life!  I was sad to leave everyone I met at school, but it's sure nice to be back at home.  Back in Eagan, I am working at the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce (where you can also read my blogs for Eagan Patch) as well as waitressing at the Commons on Maurice, one of Eagan Funfest Ambassadors’ regular stops.

At school, I had to keep up with my service work to maintain my status as an ambassador!  I joined a service sorority and volunteered through the organization for the year. I was able to participate in various events including highway clean ups, setting up charity events, and even helping at Catholic Charities Mardi Gras fundraiser!  One of my favorite activities was being the keynote speaker on behalf of the Eagan 4th of July Funfest Ambassador Program for the Girl Scout health fair.  I was able to teach a dance class with a few other girls from dance team as well as give a short talk on the importance of healthy living for us “princesses.”  The girls had so much fun, and it was so cool to be able to influence many young girl scouts and teach them all the ways us ambassadors keep ourselves energized and in tip top shape for our events!

While school was awesome, I have now returned to my normal ambassador duties and it feels great! I have sure missed the other girls, not to mention my crown!  Now that summer is picking up, we are back to our warm weather activities such as parades and coronations.  I can’t wait to see what the year has looked like for the other communities’ ambassadors and catch up with them.  Believe it or not, I met a bunch of other royalty at school, and it will be so cool to see those girls in action!

As July creeps closer we are getting ready to pass on our titles!  It has been such an amazing ride, and I am so sad to see it come to an end.  Being away at school, I have had a much different experience as an ambassador than the other girls did, but I wouldn’t trade all the great times I had this year for anything.  While it will be sad to go, I can't wait to meet the amazing group of candidates that will take our spots.  I like to think they have some big shoes to fill, but I'm sure they're up to the task!

Thanks so much for reading, and I look forward to seeing you at the Eagan 4th of July Funfest!

Sincerely,

Eagan Funfest Ambassador Megan
