BLOG: Community Service as an Eagan Funfest Ambassador

Meet another current Eagan Funfest Ambassador and learn about her volunteer experiences throughout the year

My name is Elise Cook. I have one brother, Sam. My parents are Gina and Todd.  I love shopping, doing gymnastics, and going on vacation. This summer I went with my grandparents and uncle to Nigeria Falls in Canada then to New York to visit my cousins. I like spending time with my friends and family on holidays or just any other day. I love going camping and spending time outdoors. My favorite activities outside are rollerblading and gymnastics. I also like swimming, soccer, and cheerleading.

I love being an Eagan Funfest Ambassador. I get to meet so many new people and do a lot of new things. I love visiting other cities and see what they do differently from Eagan. I love sitting on the float and waving to all the boys and girls and hearing them say “Princesses, oh my gosh!”  It is fun going to events in Eagan and seeing all the kids’ faces when they see us in our crowns and taking pictures with them. I love the pins we exchange from other cities. I’m proud that I’m an Ambassador. I love the crown, the dresses, and how our sashes have the sponsor’s name on the back, my sponsor is AA Realty.

I get to try so many new things as an ambassador and have so much fun that I never want to go home afterwards. Some of the events we help out at are city events in Eagan. We went to Holz Farm and helped with the pony rides and greeting people. Even before I was an Ambassador, as a candidate we worked at the farmers market in Eagan. I also love helping out at the Commons on Maurice, we have a lot of fun with the residents. But my favorite event so far was going to Anoka and being in the Anoka Halloween parade, dinner, and coronation. It was long day but was really fun.

Being an Ambassador has helped me become more social, be able to stand up on stage and not be so jittery. I have built more self-confidence. I have also built more cheek muscles from all the smiling! I would really recommend this program to everyone. I want to thank the committee for their help, we all really appreciate what they do.
