Construction to Cause Traffic Shift, Ramp Closures on I-35E

Traffic on I-35E will get a lot more complicated—and a lot slower—starting July 7.

South metro motorists could be in for a week of headaches and delays in the week to come.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation warns that drivers will encounter delays in both directions of Interstate 35E between Burnsville and Eagan on July 7, when crews will shift north and southbound traffic on I-35E between Cedar Avenue and the I-35/35W/35E Split. The roadway will be reduced to single lane, head to head traffic on the northbound side of the highway. The bottleneck will remain in place through July 22.

MnDOT also plans to close the southbound I-35E ramps at County Road 11 on July 7. The ramps will re-open on July 22.

Construction will also affect another major road in the south metro. On Wednesday, July 10, McAndrews Road will be cut off in both directions while construction crews repair the bridge spanning I-35E. The closure will be in effect for 14 days.
