Get Out: Weekend Activities In and Around Eagan

Palestinian dancers, an Eagan High School production and an open house at Caponi Art Park are all on tap this weekend.

  • When/Where: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 4 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley.
    Why Go:
Young men and women from the only dance troupe in Bethlehem—the Diyar Dance Theattre—will grace Shepherd of the Valley with their presence as part of Westminster Presbyterian Church's Palestinian Art Festival. This is a rare opportunity to learn firsthand what life is like for Christian Palestinians, and to see it expressed through the art of dance. There is no cost to attend and a freewill offering, and sales of refreshments and Palestinian crafts will help fund a "Minnesota Music Room" at Dar-al-Kalima College in Bethlehem.
    Cost: Free will offering suggested.
  • Encore! Performances at Eagan High School
    When/Where:
7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Auditorium.
    Why Go:
This year’s production of Encore! will once again use music and dance to explore the potential for moments of escape in our hectic lives. A favorite song, a special memory, the comfort of home, the solace of nature or the excitement of an unexplored city can all be the catalyst for a moment of escape, and Eagan High School's talented cast of singers, dancers and instrumentalists will explore both the literal and metaphorical possibilities of this theme. The annual performances are a collaboration between the vocal music, instrumental music and dance departments of the high school.
Cost: Adult tickets are $9, students are $5 and seniors are $7.
