Local celebrities, entertainers, restaurants, craft breweries, and community members are gathering to support two Twin Cities nonprofits at the creative, lively event, "ZEST! A Local Event of Global Cuisine" from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20, at the newly renovated in Eagan.

Robyne Robinson, local television broadcaster and entrepreneur, will emcee the event. Local foodies Elizabeth Ries, co-host of Twin Cities Live, and Amalia Moreno-Damgaard, chef entrepreneur and author, will demonstrate and sample one of their favorite ethnic recipes. Guests will savor a diverse array of ethnic foods from Twin Cities restaurants such as Andiamo Italian Ristorante, Ansari’s Mediterannean Grill, BD Mongolian Grill, Buca di Beppo Italian Restaurant, Green Mill, Gorkha Palace Nepali, Indian and Tibetan Cuisine, Leeann Chin contemporary Asian cuisine, Qdoba Mexican Grill, and Ze’s Diner. College City Brewery will be sampling craft ales from Odell Brewing Company and Lucid Brewing Company. A cash bar will be available.

ZEST! is not an everyday “taste” event, it’s a global experience! From 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. guests will be entertained with traditional Mexican music by Trio Mexico; dance performances by Al-Bahira Middle Eastern Dance Theater; a “CANdid Conversation” with Barb Schaller, five-time Minnesota State Fair canning and blue ribbon champion; and a finale dance demonstration (and surprise!) by O’Shea Irish Dance. Guests are encouraged to bid on culturally themed silent auction items and take part in exciting games of chance drawings featuring two Byerly’s Wine Cellars.

The event is generously sponsored by Mauer Chevrolet, Superior Service Center, Home Federal, Thrivent Financial, Xcel Energy, Don Stevens Inc, Nick DeVries, State Farm agent, and Dakota Electric. Proceeds from the event will support the missions of Cheerful Givers, which provides birthday gifts for less fortunate children, and the Eagan and Lakeville Resource Center food shelves, which exists to serve those in need and to eliminate hunger in Dakota County.
