Eagan's own Nicholas David made it through to the Top 3 on a nerve-wracking episode of NBC's "The Voice" Tuesday night.

Nicholas David will be joined by fellow contestants and finalists Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott. Voice contestant Trevin Hunte was eliminated by the show's viewing audience.

The three finalists will move onto next week's episode, where they will once again give performances and vie for votes as they strive to make it past another elimination round.

Tuesday's episode comes after an emotional visit to the Twin Cities area for Nicholas David, who grew up in Eagan and attended Eagan High School. Last week, Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire presented Nicholas, whose full name is Nicholas David Mrozinski, with a golden microphone and pronounced him "The Voice of Eagan". Nicholas David followed up the proclamation with a performance at the Mall of America.

On Monday, Nicholas David performed Joe Cocker's "You Are So Beautiful" and dedicated the song to his fiancée and sons, who were watching in the audience.

"I think you are both incredible, and this determines nothing for your future, I don’t believe," celebrity coach Adam Levine told Nicholas David and Trevin Hunte prior to the elimination. "I have grown to love you as people and love your talent so much. I’m so happy to have discovered you guys over the course of the show”

Nicholas, when asked by Carson Daly to give his "final words" before the announcement, thanked his coaches and fellow singers.

"That you for the opportunity to let our hearts speak," Nicholas said.
