Senior Living Complex Proposed for Site in Central Eagan

The 151-unit senior living complex would go up on a 10-acre tract immediately West of I-35E and south of Diffley.

On Monday, developers will pitch a new project—Eagan Pointe Senior Living—to the city's Park Board.

The eldercare complex is proposed for a 10-acre tract at 4232 Blackhawk Road, just south of Diffley Road and west of Interstate 35E. Developers hope to build a four-story building with 151 units—48 for memory care, 43 for assisted living and 60 for independent adults. The complex will also include a fitness center, beauty shop, cafe, movie theater, card room and billiards.

There are two existing homes on the site, both built in the 1960s, and a wetland on southern portion of the property in question. About 4.3 acres of the plot will be sold to the city for a new fire station.

The Park Department has asked the developer to give the city $475,376 in park dedication funds, and $10,450 to the trail dedication funds. The developer will be responsible for building 885 feet of public trail.

If approved by the Park Board, the measure wil go before the city council. Once final approval is given, the developer hopes to being construction in fall, with the expectation of a grand opening in October 2014.
