#6: Eagan Republicans Overturned in 2012 Elections

Eagan's political landscape changed significantly on Nov. 6, 2012, when all three of the city's Republican incumbents, Sen. Ted Daley, Rep. Diane Anderson and Rep. Doug Wardlow, were ousted by voters.

Democratic challengers prevailed in each race in District 52, widely considered an important swing district in the statewide battle for control of the Minnesota Legislature. Democrats and Republicans alike say the state shutdown and controversy generated by two proposed constitutional amendments may have worked in the Democrats' favor this year.

Daley said voters sent a "clear message" and described the results as a "wave election".
