BLOG: A Creative Community

The arts build community and bring people together. The creative community in Eagan is growing and it's contagious!

Fall is my favorite season. The natural beauty that surrounds us is magical. The trees adorn themselves with glorious colors that are unmatched any other time of year. Even though I know winter is only a few nights of frost away, I revel in the unbounded color palettes and energy of the harvest season.

A couple of weeks ago, the annual Harvest of Art Celebration was held at the Eagan Art House. This too, was a magical day. It epitomized art in community.  385 folks stopped by to view artwork of 30 artists from the community, to create raku fired pottery, to shop the pottery tent, to create a collaborative piece of artwork and to enjoy music and frozen treats. It was truly a harvest of creativity and discovery. Through art, people of all ages connected that day. Many are enjoying their new pottery in their homes, remembering how much fun they had.  Others have taken their friends and family to Ring Mountain Creamery, Dunn Brothers, Easter Church or the Community Center to show off their artwork on display. Still others are enjoying the art class that they said they always wanted to take.

The arts enhance our quality of life and bring us together with great vitality. Our community in Eagan is filled with a creative energy that is contagious and growing. So, before the days grow shorter and the air grows cold, take a minute to celebrate the bountiful harvest of art in our community, whether it’s viewing the art exhibit or the golden trees in your own back yard. Be sure to check out the photos from the Harvest of Art event that I've posted here.
