BLOG: 24 Hours of Giving Today in Minnesota

It's "Give To The Max Day" Today -- Your $10 donation could turn into $10,000 for one lucky nonprofit.

Millions of dollars will be donated by individuals today, Nov. 15, which is "Give To The Max Day." No doubt you have seen or heard from at least a dozen nonprofit organizations who want and need your contribution. According to the Network For Good, 89 percent of American households give to charity, and gifts average 3.2 percent of income or $1,620 annually.

Many donors choose to spread their giving to a variety of nonprofits throughout the year. However, by giving on Nov. 15, there is an opportunity for donors to turn their $10 donation (or more) into $1,000 through hourly random drawings by GiveMN, and one lucky person will have $10,000 added to their donation in a drawing at the end of the day.

So think about why, how and when you want to contribute. If, like me, you have a passion for helping less fortunate kids, or if you can't imagine what it must feel like to be a parent who can't give their child a birthday gift, then perhaps Cheerful Givers is an organization you want to support. Whatever you choose to do, know that your generosity is appreciated!
