Online volunteering for busy people which engages employees or customers.
“Micro-volunteerism is a relatively new workplace trend but is already becoming a powerful employee engagement tool” according to a recent article in the Star Tribune. “Working online in intervals as short as 15 minutes, volunteers use their job skills to help nonprofits brainstorm marketing ideas, design logos, proofread brochures, build databases and much more.”
One organization which links corporate employees with nonprofits is Sparked.com where nonprofits can apply to get help, and businesses can learn more about engaging employees or customers.
As a nonprofit always looking for new ways to broaden both volunteer and donor base, Cheerful Givers posted a challenge to “Give-A-Less-Fortunate Child-A Happy Birthday” by simply asking others to get involved in promoting the cause. Here’s a sampling of responses from across the country:
