Keep An Eye on Your Purses, Ladies!

I was at Rainbow Foods yesterday. I saw three different ladies put their purses in the child seat of their carts and then leave them unattended. Two of the ladies just turned their backs on their cart while they were looking at merchandise. The third lady walked a half of aisle away from her cart, and completely out of eyesight of the cart. 

Don't do this, ever! There are people who make it their business to find purses that are unattended and take them without the owner even realizing they are gone. By the time the owner realizes it, the thief has already been able to steal the money and use the credit cards in the purse at some other store—and all before you have the time to cancel your credit/debit cards. And, that might be just the beginning of your nightmare. You might even become the victim of identity theft where the thief goes on to open new accounts in  your name, without you even knowing!

Ladies, please, hold on to your purses while shopping anywhere. Even with surveillance photos of suspects, the police can't identify the culprits. If you must put your purse in the cart, then WATCH it, at all times. Don't become a victim!

Finally, if you ever think about leaving your purse or other valuables in your car while you just 'run in quick' to the daycare, or walk around the park, or while you eat lunch, don't do it. Thieves know the popular 'shopping' areas to look for these items and it only takes a minute to break your car window and steal your purse, Ipad, laptop, etc. This goes for your trunk, too. Thieves have been known to watch parks and shopping centers for people stowing items in their trunks. They simply break a window, pop the trunk with your handy button, and take your stuff.

There are products on the market now that you can buy to safeguard your valueables if you must keep them in the car. There are trunk mounted safes that you can secure in your trunk to LOCK your valuables in. Use the handy Google search to find more information about these products.

I know it is a pain to carry your purse while you are in the store or walking in the park. But, trust me, it is a bigger pain to become the victim of a theft or worse, of identity theft.
