BLOG: Police Explorers Plan Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser

Eagan Police Explorers—a great group of youth, ages 14-21, serving the Eagan Community—ask for your support in attending their annual fundraiser.

The Eagan Police Explorers are a group of no more than 25 youth, age 14-21 years, interested in examining the occupation of law enforcement. In September of each year, the Eagan Police Explorers have an open house for interested youth and their parents. Most years there are far more interested youth than there are openings on the post. Interviews are conducted and new members are chosen to be on the post. Explorers receive training from police advisors on topics including domestic assault investigation, white collar crime, hostage negotiations, interview and interrogation, traffic stops, shooting, and use of force. Explorers must put in a minimum of 12 hours per month in training and volunteer work.

You may have seen police explorers assisting at such events as the Eagan Fourth of July parade, Eagan Market Fest, elementary school dances, St. Paul Winter Carnival, Eagan Fire Department Open House, and many other events. They provide countless hours of volunteer services to the community, at no cost!

Every year, the Eagan Explorers travel to state competitions in Rochester and Duluth. This year they will be travelling to national competition. All of these competitions are expensive and the individual explorer pays for competition costs, travel fees, uniforms and equipment out of their own pocket.

In order to offset costs, the Eagan Police Explorers have several fundraisers throughout the year. They would like to invite the public to attend their upcoming fundraiser, below.

The Eagan Police Explorer Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser will be held on Sunday, 4/29/12 from 4pm to 7pm, Rosemount/Eagan VFW on Hwy 3 and 120th St.  Cost is $10/person which includes Spaghetti, salad, bread, dessert, coffee and water. Tickets can be purchased by email at lmyhre@cityofeagan.com or phone, 651-675-5733. This is a very good cause—explorers are going to national competition this year and it is EXPENSIVE ... Plus, the police explorers provide numerous hours of service to our community each year.
