This Is Farewell: My Final Week as Editor of Eagan Patch

After a year and a half of reporting for Eagan, I'm off to new adventures.

I love good stories, and Eagan is full of them.

Take, for example, the local Culver's owners who make it their mission to help the community, or the incredibly uplifting story of Lily Reitsma, a young girl with a difficult genetic disorder. Let's not forget all the eager new business owners I've spoken with in the last 18 months, or the Eagan High School student who builds and donates computers for disadvantaged families.

It's been my honor to collect and share their stories with the wider community in the last year and a half as the editor of Eagan Patch. They, and all the other readers, sources and friends I've met in that time, have made this job wonderfully fulfilling.

So it's with great regret that I announce that this is my final week as the editor of Eagan Patch. I've accepted a new position at the University of Minnesota Physician's program—where I'll be shooting video, interviewing doctors and patients and, yes, telling tales.

The success of Eagan Patch has been and will continue to because of you—the readers and contributors. Thank you for embracing Patch when no one had ever heard of us. Thank you for posting on Patch, sending in news tips and trusting me to report on the community.

While I may have been the face of the site for the last 18 months, I now leave you in the very capable hands of my co-worker, Clare Kennedy, the current editor of Burnsville and Shakopee Patches. Clare can be reached at clare.kennedy@patch.com.

It's been a privilege, Eagan. Community journalism—and this city—will always have a special place in my heart.
