Over 200 students gathered in the EHS Library yesterday as Eagan High School joined the trend and produced its own unique version of the "Harlem Shake."

"The Harlem Shake," a dance made popular in the early 1980s, has taken a brand new form in 2013. Put to the tune of "The Harlem Shake" by electronic-remixer "Baauer." This viral meme went viral in early Febuary and gained an astonishing 175+ million views on YouTube and various social media sites.

The dance consists of a 15 second clip of a single person dancing in what seems like a perfectly normal surroundings (such as a library.) As the first 15 seconds end, the beat drops and the second 15 seconds is filled with more people all consistently performing one dance move throughout the rest of the video. Many of these participents are wearing costumes, masks, using props. It is all finished with a three-second slow-motion clip coupled with what sounds like a bear roar.

Eagan High School decided to take on their own form of the popular meme. Students took over the library and had the mascot, "Wally the Wildcat," perform as their spotlight dancer to kick off the video. As the beat dropped, over 200 EHS students dressed in costumes and masks crammed the library to complete the library version of "The Harlem Shake."
