Remembering 9/11

Eagan remembers and reflects on the events of 9/11 on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m., at the Tribute Plaza.

The Eagan community will have the opportunity to come together to remember and reflect on what happened in our country 10 years ago.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, at 11 a.m., there will be a short time for reflection at the new Tribute & Memorial Plaza in Central Park in Eagan. Representatives from the military, police & fire will place a special wreath inside the circle of the Tribute.  There will be an invocation and ending the event with taps.

This will be in memory of those who died on that fateful day in 2001 as we were all in shock with disbelief. We remember the fear that came over us as we witnessed the twin towers crumbling before our eyes with thousands of people inside, the plane crashing into the Pentagon, and the heroes who brought down a highjacked plane.

We want to remember those police, fire and medical personnel for their heroic efforts in rescue, search and recovery that lasted so many days and months. War had been declared on the United States, but we didn't know who the enemy was immediately. We remember all the service members who made homeland security their number one duty. We remember those who put their lives in harms way everyday and with deep sadness those who lost their lives to keep our country safe.
