To the Editor:

In the last two years, we’ve watched incumbent State Representative, Doug Wardlow, fixate on his partisan politics rather than making decisions based on what is best for our community.

Representative Wardlow voted to borrow $2.4 billion from our schools, to raise property taxes on middle class families, to cut funding for seniors and the disabled, and shut down state government.

Most appalling is that Representative Wardlow was proud of the government shutdown, stating “the time for compromise is over.” It is crystal clear Representative Wardlow has made his partisan political goals his priority at the expense of Eagan residents.

Thankfully, we have another choice for State Representative—Laurie Halverson. Halverson is committed to Eagan, having served on the local Parks and Recreation Commission, and on the Eagan Foundation Board. There, Laurie has gotten things done for our community and that’s why I support Laurie Halverson for State Representative.

Good thing we have watch dogs in the community taking note of these kinds of things. When you lay it out facts and figures on the table crystal clear, it saves us undecided voters a great amount of time doing research on the past 2 years. What's done is done, and numbers don't lie. Actions speak louder than words. My vote will be for Ms. Halverson.

Agreed Violet, we can chose between someone who represents the far right fringe of the tea party or someone who represents the citizens of Eagan. I'm voting for Ms. Halverson.

Thank you for your comments on this, Cheryl. The information is appreciated and I will consider this when I am at the ballot box. Far too many politicians are more concerned with pleasing their party members instead of their constituents, and that needs to end.
