Abandoned Box Shuts Down MSP Airport's Terminal 2

The box was not a bomb, but operations came to a halt for two hours.

A suspicious box with a propane tank shut down Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport’s Terminal 2 for two hours Friday morning, the Star Tribune reported.

The terminal was evacuated shortly after 6 a.m. when a woman who was refused passage through security abandoned a propane tank in a box with tubes sticking out. She went through the security checkpoint and boarded her plane after trying again, but officials removed her from the plane for questioning.

The Bloomington bomb squad determined that the box was not a bomb. The terminal returned to normal operations by about 8 a.m., although the closure caused flight delays.
