Blotter: Overzealous Application of Windex Leads to Arrest for Car Theft

One man may face criminal charges after a neighbor spotted him cleaning a car in a peculiarly conscientious way.

The Eagan Police Department got a call from a resident on the 4700 block of Sunne Point, around 12:46 p.m. on July 23. The reporting party said that there was a young male at the end of the caller's driveway "acting strange," using windex to clean his entire car.

When police ran the license plate, they found out that the car had been stolen from 4800 Shevlin Court earlier that morning. 

July 31
12:30 p.m.—An Eagan resident reported that a telemarketer selling diabetic supplies called, asked a bunch of questions and then threatened to use information gathered to perpetrate identity theft after the customer balked at his pitch.
1:09 p.m.—Resident in lobby reported that they'd received harassing letters about one of their bowling league buddies.
3:37 p.m.—Kohl's reported that an uncooperative female shoplifter was in custody for stealing a $45 bottle of perfume. The woman apparently had her 10-year-old child with her at the time.

July 29
10:52 a.m.—Man assaulted by a passing motorist at the ramp going from Nicols Road to Cedar Avenue. The reporting party said that a man in a dark gray Corolla punched him and spit in his face, then sped off on Cliff Road.

July 28
5:15 a.m.—Break-in reported at occupied home on the 3200 block of Alden Pond Lane. The reporting party said she heard a noise and saw a man in the bedroom. The man ran after her husband told him to get out. The man apparently gained access to the house by using a garage door opener that he found in an unlocked car in the driveway. The suspect was not found.
10:20 a.m.—A man called dispatch saying that someone was trying to get into his home on the 1500 block of Thomas Lake Pointe Road. The caller said he'd threatened to hit the intruder with a golf club if he tried to get in. The suspect was described as a white male in a white shirt, wearing glasses and sling on his arm.

July 27
12:57 a.m.—Taxi cab driver called the EPD about a belligerent, drunk passenger who vomited in the car, then refused to either pay the $40 clean up fee or mop it up himself. Customer could be heard screaming in the background.
6:33 p.m.—Male caller on 3000 block of Cliff Road East said his wife took a .38 handgun and held it up to her head. Wife denied it and said that the husband had made it up. She said her husband "gets like this every year around this time," and added that he might be on drugs or drinking.

July 26 
11:42 a.m.—Vandalism reported on the 4000 block of Penkwe Circle. Oatmeal and baking powder poured on car. No permanent damage but the caller said it was an ongoing issue.
12:21 p.m.—Two kids, about 12, apparently vandalized a partially-constructed home on the 3100 block of Doneene Lane. The caller said he caught the two—a boy and a girl—walking around the site with a hammer. The kids then tried to get into the man's truck.
11:53 p.m.—Man walking his dog confronted by three men, who threw beer bottles at him and threatened to kill him. The men fled north of Rahn Elementary.  

July 25

1:13 p.m.—Theft reported at Walgreen's on the 2000 block of Cliff. The suspect apparently loaded up a cart full of body wash—93 bottles in all—then walked out of the store without paying.
7:29 p.m.—Six counterfeit $20 bills passed at Big Lots on the 1200 block of Town Centre Drive.

July 24
7:24 a.m.—Walden Heights Park struck by graffiti artist.
12:44 p.m.—Counterfeit $20 bills taken as payment at Walmart on Town Centre Drive. 
9:41 p.m.—Concerned father on 4400 block of Slater Road called police to say that he wanted his 20-year-old son removed from the home, as he was "corrupting the other kids." When police arrived they found out that the source of the problem was that the son stays up late playing video games. The son agreed to go to bed earlier. No crime to report.
