Drunk Driver Runs From Three-Car Crash; Victim Phones Police, Chases Him

The man later blew a .25 on a PBT, according to the most recent Eagan police reports.

Police responded to a car accident at the corner of Pilot Knob Road and Yankee Doodle Road at 7:50 p.m. on Feb. 23. The caller told police there was a three-car accident at the intersection, and that the engine of one of the vehicles was smoking. While the caller was on the phone with authorities, one of the drivers began running from the accident scene. The caller followed him on foot until police arrested the man. The fleeing driver was found to have a .25 blood-alcohol level on a PBT.

Feb. 22

6:10 a.m.—Police responded to a burglary call on the 4600 block of Fairway Hills Drive. The caller told police someone broke into a garage and stole several items overnight.

7:53 a.m.—Police responded to a car crash involving a fatality on the 2700 block of Hwy. 13. The victim, 24-year-old Taya Clifford, was killed when her vehicle spun out into oncoming traffic and was broadsided by another van.

9:25 a.m.—Police responded to a burglary on the 1200 block of Balsam Trl. E. The caller told police that someone broke into a home using the garage as an entry point. Items stolen included a laptop, purse and iPod.

9:28 a.m.—Police responded to a theft call on the 4700 block of Richard Lane. The caller told police someone broke into a car parked outside. The suspects allegedly took a garage door opener from the car and used it to break into a garage.

10:21 a.m.—Police responded to a suspicious person call on the 2000 block of Cliff Road at the Drivers Exam Station. The caller, an employee at the station, told police a male was taking an exam yesterday when he began screaming at other test takers and staff members. After the profanity-laced rant, the man was asked to leave.

10:57 p.m.—Police responded to a drug activity call on the 3900 block of Valley View Dr. The caller, a resident in an apartment complex, told police he or she could smell the odor marijuana coming from a neighboring apartment. Police cited several people for minor consumption and one person for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Feb. 23

7:23 p.m.—Police responded to a suspicious person call at Rahn Park. The caller told a group of people were out smoking marijuana near two vehicles parked in the park. Police cited three for possession of marijuana.

11:23 p.m.—Police responded to a fight call on the 1900 block of Silver Bell Road. The caller told police there was a possible fight going on in front of a business. Police spoke to a man, who was allegedly mad that his wife had been spending too much money.

Feb. 24

4:11 p.m.—Police responded to a drug activity call on the 4400 block of Cinnamon Ridge Trl. The caller told police a mother had sold drugs to two younger teens.

Feb. 25

4:14 a.m.—Police responded to a disturbing the peace call at Woodland Elementary. The caller told officers a parent came into the school officer and began yelling and swearing at staff. The woman was apparently irate over a special education assessment conducted on her daughter.

9:30 p.m.—Police responded to an assault call on the 3100 block of Lexington Ave. The caller, a truck driver at a local business, told police he was punched by his supervisor twice in the face.

Feb. 26

10:59 a.m.—Police responded to a domestic call on the 4100 block of Rahn Rd. The caller told police a 21-year-old woman was in her house throwing food and furniture items. The fight allegedly escalated when the young woman threatened the victim with a kitchen knife and tried to stab her and made threats to burn down the apartment. The woman then locked herself in a bathroom and started burning hair. Police arrested the woman for second-degree assault.

5:21 p.m.—Police responded to a car crash involving at least one injury at the corner of Corporate Center Dr. and Pilot Knob Road. The caller told police that two vehicles were involved, and a 10-year-old passenger was feeling dizzy and experiencing chest pain as the result of the crash.

10:05 p.m.—Police responded to a disturbing the peace call on the 3900 block of Cedar Grove Parkway. The caller told police people in a nearby park were screaming at each other.

Feb. 27

5:01 p.m.—Police responded to a theft call on the 3100 block of Quarry Ct. The caller told officers that her wallet was stolen and that someone had used a Capital One card to purchase $1,000 worth of items at an Eagan store.

11:03 p.m.—Police responded to a check welfare call at the corner of Cliff Road and Galaxie Avenue. The caller told police that the driver of a car at the stoplight was slumped over. The reporting party turned on his or her flashers and followed the vehicle, which was still in drive. Police arrived and arrested one person for a fourth-degree DWI.
