Editor's Note: The following is a press release from the city of Eagan.

Got an old car to get rid of? The city needs junkers for Fire Department training. Each year, the Eagan Fire Department trains its 100+ volunteers in how to safely extract people from vehicles following a crash. These trainings are essential considering the department responds to approximately 150 vehicle accidents or fires each year.

"This kind of training requires vehicles for crews to practice on," says Pat DiIoia, Assistant Fire Chief. "Sometimes local towing companies can supply cars, but we have an ongoing need." Individuals interested in donating a vehicle can receive a tax credit. The department will provide a receipt for tax purposes and donated vehicles will be transported for free. For information or to donate a vehicle, contact the Eagan Fire Department at EFD@cityofeagan.com or call (651) 675-5900.
