Eagan Man Charged with Felony After Allegedly Brawling with Cop

Mark Allen Listrud, 43, allegedly instigated a physical confrontation with an Eagan officer who had come to the address on report of a domestic dispute.

An Eagan man faces up to three years in prison after he allegedly attacked a police officer last Friday.

Mark Allen Listrud, 43, has been charged fourth-degree assault, a felony punishable by up to three years in prison and a $6,000 fine. Listrud has also been charged with one count of obstruction of the legal process, a gross misdemeanor, and two counts of midemeanor domestic assault.

On March 1, the Eagan Police Department was called to an address on Hill Ridge Drive on report of a domestic assault. As officers approached the residence they encountered Listrud, who was trying to leave in his vehicle. Listrud ignored commands to stay at the scene.

One officer grabbed Listrud's arm and pulled him from the driver's side door. According to the criminal complaint, Listrud turned to face him, then began to spar with the officer. Listrud tried to punch him the chest and face, but the officer deflected the blows, according to the complaint. As the two continued to fight, the officer and Listrud fell to the ground. Listrud was subdued only after police deployed a dry stun gun.

The officer sustained cuts to his hand and knee. Police say Listrud also landed a punch on his right cheek.

His next court appearance is scheduled for June 25.
